It's All In The Details

Dress - Zara (here), Clutch - Kate Spade (here), Shoes - Zara old (similar here and here)

Leather cap sleeves and an exposed gold back zipper bring the perfect amount of edginess to this classic little black dress.   I don't wear dresses often.  I'm more of a jeans and heels kinda girl, but every once in a while I come across a dress that I absolutely love and so begins the 'where can I wear this?' saga...lol   This was one of those dresses which I purchased simply because I just had to have it :)  My Kate Spade magazine clutch and my favorite red pumps (love the gold stiletto heel!) added the perfect details for an edgy, sexy, fun, date night outfit.

The Leather LBD

The Row $$$ (here), Malene Birger $$ (here), Karl $ (here)

Love!  Love!  Love this leather dress!  A whole new take on the little black dress - sexier and edgier - love it!  I have been drooling over the first one for quite some time but it's way out of my price range at $3,390...so I decided to do some hunting for a look for less and found the 2nd for $750 and the 3rd for $290.  If you're looking to spice up your little black dress look, go for leather!

Fall into Color

Burgundy, red, oxblood, bordeaux, wine - whatever you want to call it - it's in and it's hot!

Dress (here), Jeans (here), Top (here), Skirt (here)

All of the items above are on my wish list for fall except for the jeans which I've already purchased.  They are a steal at $35.90...so much so that I also got them in green!  I'm loving the style and side zip on the dress - I need this in my life asap!  If you want to knock out 2 'trends' (oxblood and leather) with 1 stone, go for the skirt...it's super chic!  The peplum top is also super cute and can be worn with a pencil skirt or skinny jeans and at only $36 - why not?!?!?

Pumped Up Kicks

via

Love!  Love!  Love this look!  The leather sleeves and the stylish kicks - hot!  I've been debating whether or not to jump on the wedge sneaker bandwagon.  When I first discovered them a few months ago, I kinda had a love/hate relationship with them.  They were the Isabel Marant 'perkins'.  I loved the idea of a hidden wedge in the sneaker but disliked the bulkiness and with a $700 price tag I wasn't too pleased either.  Then I spotted the 'boston' (featured on the left)...which isn't as bulky to me as the others, but the price remains the same...bummer.  Luckily, I found this Zara version (which need to come back in stock asap!)...they resemble the perkins a little in color and height, but are a little sleeker and more my style.  What do you think?  If you're loving this look as much as I am, you can get the look for much less at Zara (shown on the right) with this top and these sneakers and if you're willing to splurge you can get the top and sneaker from the 1st look here and here.

Lost in the Art @FNO

These pants are a STEAL!!!!  Run, don't walk to your nearest H&M!

Top - Zara (here), Pants - H&M (here), Shoes - Zara

I wore my new peplum top and printed pants for Fashion's Night Out in New York City last night.  I was shocked that I didn't see more fashionistas in these bad boys...let me explain...My little sister is off to college this year (so proud of her!) so we decided to do some back to school clothes shopping for her.  Our first stop was H&M.  Of course, I couldn't help but pick up a few things for myself and off her and I went into the fitting room...she grabbed the same pants in red and I, the printed version.  We each came out to get the other's approval and we gave each other the okay and I said 'you know, I shouldn't be shopping!'  Imagine my dumbfounded expression when my sister excitedly screamed 'they're only $12.95!'  What!?!?!?  The amount of money I spend on work pants (usually from Banana) and jeans (which range from Gap/Zara to JBrand/Seven/DL1961) is astronomical compared to this!  I still can't believe it...I ran out of there before they discovered that $12.95 is just way too good of a deal.

Military Chic

via

I have been a fan of army green, cargo, and pretty much anything military style for as long as I can remember and it's definitely popular for fall.  So this trend is right up my alley!  You can get anything from shoes to jackets in this print now.  I decided to go with a pair of jeans with studded detail.  I plan to rock these with black patent pumps, a heather gray tank/t-shirt and a black blazer or I may even switch it up and rock them with my gray suede pumps and a black tee...decisions, decisions!

Studded

I'm not usually a fan of a lot of embellishment, but I've been drooling over these studded items!

The Leather Peplum

Top (here), Jacket (here)

A leather peplum top is an absolute must have for fall...you can easily pair it with a pencil skirt or skinny jeans and instantly have a sexy, edgy, girly look.
And this jacket!!!!!!!  I have had my leather bomber jacket for many years now and still absolutely love it, but I mostly wear it with jeans or pants.  Although I have been tempted many times to rock it with skirts and dresses, it just never went well, but I have finally discovered the perfect leather jacket.  The leather and peplum style have just enough edge to be worn casually with jeans and sneakers/boots, but also enough femininity to be worn with a cocktail dress.

Dust 'It' Off and Try Again

Top (here) & Skirt - Zara, Wedges - Michael Kors (similar), Clutch - Banana Republic, Sunglasses - Rayban (here)
I remember being super excited about this skirt when I purchased it...fast forward a year and it was hanging in my closet with the tags still on it.  The outfit I had in mind when I purchased it just didn't work out so well.  I originally thought I’d wear it with a pair of pumps and dress it up, but the material of the skirt just didn't go with the look so I decided I’d have to opt for a more casual ensemble so when I spotted this top in Zara a few weeks ago, I knew it would be perfect!  It wasn't just a plain cotton tank, it had detail that I knew the skirt needed so it wouldn't look so boring.  My wedges and orange clutch were the perfect additions...this is now one of my favorite outfits!  Lesson here - if you love an item and your original outfit idea doesn't pan out, give it another chance, you may end up loving it even more :)

White Hot

Love!  Love!  Love this blazer!  I need this in my life asap!  It's all in the details...collarless, crop back and white!
A new wardrobe staple...it's a combination of 2 classic pieces - a white button down and black blazer in one with a modern twist!  If you're equally as enamored as I am, get yours here!

My Blue Suede Shoes

Top - Guess (here), Pants - Zara (similar here), Shoes - Zara, Bag - Marc by Marc Jacobs (here)

I'm back....sorry for the hiatus.  I was on vacation with my hubby celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary :)
Our last night in Bermuda/Paradise called for dinner, drinks and dancing so I needed a dressy but comfy outfit.  I am a fan of skirts and dresses when dressing up, but when I know there will be dancing involved, I like to wear pants so I can move a lot more freely without flashing anyone :)   So I wore these pink silk (pajama style) pants, a white top and my favorite shoes from last summer.  These were my pop of color with every outfit last year.  I remembered wearing them with a pink dress and thought they'd be perfect with these pants.  I love the combination of the pink and blue!

Python Chic

via

A perfect bag for both work and play...roomy enough for your laptop during the week or your beach towel on the weekend.  Although it has a pattern, the black and white color acts as a neutral...so you can wear it with practically anything.  So many outfit ideas in mind...based solely off this bag and did I mention that it's on sale for only $29.99!!!!  I got mine in store, but you can get yours here!  You can also get a more colorful option here

Summer Nights

Top - Zara, Belt - Banana Republic (here), Jeans - J Brand (zombie - old) (similar pair for less - here), Sandals - Zara (here)

Love!  Love!  Love these jeans!  I purchased them 3 years ago and I'm so glad I did.  Although they were really popular then, I have still been able to rock them every summer since.  I just add a current trend or new item from my closet and have a fresh new look.  The distressed, ripped denim and slight boyfriend fit give them a very casual appearance and when paired with a pair of sexy sandals you have the perfect combination of tomboy and girly :)

Printed Jeans

Zara, Joe's Jeans, Current/Elliot

A great alternative to blue jeans or black skinnies and a lot more fun!  Perfect for Girls Night Out or Date Night.  I'd wear them with neutrals and let the pants stand out...a solid top and stilettos are all that's needed.  Now, which pair do I get?...if I could only get all 3 :)

Neon Stripes

Top - Zara, Jeans - Gap, Sandals - old Dolce Vita (cute pair here and here)

These jeans are super comfy.  They're light weight and stretchy enough that you don't feel stiff or restricted in them and I love the color!  In the store, they only had this coral color, but online they also have them in orange and what appears to be a minty green color...which of course I may need:)  They can easily be worn dressed up or dressed down. I have worn them with wedges and a dressier top and they looked great.  So this time, I went for a more casual look and wore flat sandals and a loose tank and actually liked the look even better.  This is the second linen tank that I have purchased at Zara (first one here) and they're also really comfortable...although they are a loose fit, they still fall nicely on the body and don't look so boxy.  This striped one comes in other fun colors and is now on sale!

Vacation Wish List - Casual Dressy

I don't need a reason to shop and when there's an upcoming vacation, you always think of those perfect pieces that you can add to your wardrobe to make the vacation that much more special.  There are those classic pieces that go with you every year like my Sam Edelman gigi's and my black Victoria's Secret triangle bikini to name a few.  I have already purchased a couple of new items like my retro inspired bikini you saw here, but there are just a few more pieces that I need to make my vacation wardrobe complete!

I own a few pair of sunglasses but they're all plastic frames.  I'm looking for a pair that are a bit dressier and I think the classic Ray Ban aviator style will be perfect.  I also would like a pair of low top Converse in beige...a neutral color and a little dressier than my gym/running sneakers.  These Tory Burch 'thora' sandals are casual yet a little dressier than rubber flip flops. I love the snake print and the colors are neutral enough to be worn with pretty much everything.  Now, if I can just stick to ONLY getting these 3 things!

Breakfast in Heels

Two of my birthday gifts.  The heels were a gift to myself...they were on sale...how could I not?!?!  The last pair of this style on the sale table and happen to be in my size.  Meant to be?...I think so.  And the other from my thoughtful mother...what girl doesn't love Audrey Hepburn.  She's one of my faves :)  I am a huge fan...her style, her elegance, her sense of humor, her confidence, just her!

Summer BBQ

Yes, it's that time of year again!  Hanging out with family and friends in the backyard with yummy food :)  Always fun!  I usually base my outfit on the type of BBQ.  There is the evening BBQ which I would choose a summer dress and a wedge.   The pool party BBQ which requires a bikini and a cute cover up.  Then you have those good old fashion family BBQ's where cute but casual attire is best.  For these, I almost always opt for shorts and a tank with flat sandals.  This is always the safest option when you want to be comfortable but still fashionable:)

My Starry Night

While browsing Zara's 'New This Week' section, I found the perfect dress for my wedding shoes.  They're purple!  I have been dying to wear them again so when I spotted this beauty with an open back and colorful pattern (reminds me of a Van Gogh painting), I knew it would be perfect!  With the multi colors, it has just a hint of purple which is accentuated by the shoes.  Look out for an upcoming outfit post :)

The New Classic

When speaking of classic pieces, the first things that come to mind are the LBD (little black dress), a black blazer, white button down, and now a pair of skinny jeans.  I believe a black pair are a definite wardrobe staple.  They can easily be worn with a pair of cute flats or your hottest heels!  They can be worn with an old t-shirt or that beautiful new blouse you have your eye on.  I wore mine this weekend with my new 'go-to' heels and a blouse in my favorite color.  It was the perfect outfit for an evening in the city where the temps dropped low enough for the long sleeves but not enough for an additional layer.  The blouse has concealed front buttons and pretty gold cuffs and shoulder detailing.

By the way, how awesome is this neon chair that I fell in love with at High Line Park!

Bermuda Ready

With the current heat wave here in NYC (I'm talking temps in the high 90's feeling like 105!), I was inspired to buy a bikini.  Saw this one at a boutique a few weeks ago on a weekend trip to Philly, but didn't purchase it.  Don't know why?!?!  So the search began...trying to find both the top and bottom in my size.  In the end, I had to buy each piece separately from 2 different places.  Super excited and can't wait to rock it on my summer vaca!  Bermuda, here I come!

Love the colors of the stripes and the gold trimming!  If you like this pattern/design, it also comes in a few different styles so get your favorite here!

The Magazine Clutch

Love! Love! Love this clutch!  I first spotted Kerry Washington with it here and thought what a cool, unique and perfect accessory for those basic outfits that need a touch of fun.  A few months later, a post from one of my favorite bloggers featured the bag and it was on sale!  So of course I thought, it must be meant to be!  I emailed my husband asking his opinion and when I went to purchase it, it was already sold out:(  Of course, I was disappointed so imagine my surprise and elation, when he surprised me with an early birthday gift just a few days later!  Can't wait to rock it!!!

It's sold out online, but after some research, it looks like it may be available at Kate Spade outlets.  Here's the link to the Kate Spade blog discussing the idea behind the bag.

Blazin Bright

Orange is my favorite color so when I spotted this blazer in orangey/coral (listed online as red?) on a recent visit to Zara, I was immediately drawn to it.  It's a comfortable cotton material which allows you to move freely although you still get that structured blazer look.  The bright color and light weight make it perfect for those cool summer nights.  It also comes in several other hues so you can get it in your favorite color too!

The Perfect Travel Bag

Roomy enough for all of your travel essentials...magazines, iPad, sunglass case, snacks, passport, wallet and even those valuables (jewelry) that you don't like to check in with your luggage.
It's super cute and comes in fun colors!  Have my eye on the meteorite blue.

via Nordstrom

I'm a fan of Marc by Marc Jacobs handbags.  Many are stylish, yet classic, and great quality which is a necessity when purchasing a handbag.  My MARC by MARC JACOBS DR Q HILLIER HOBO has been in heavy rotation for almost 3 years now.  It's my 'go-to' bag, mostly used for work so it's worn about 5 times a week and is still in great condition.

The Not so 'Basic' Sandal

Love! Love! Love these shoes!  I bought them a few months ago and have worn them with everything from boyfriend jeans to cocktail dresses.  They are just that versatile.  I'm even thinking of getting another pair since they may be worn out before I get to rock them with all my outfit ideas.  Doesn't hurt to have 2 if you love them just that much :)

These are a steal at $49.90!
You can get them here in fun colors...have my eye on the orange/tan and green/blue.

Living on a Wedge

Finally!  I am a huge fan of fashion blogs...honestly, I'm quite obsessed with them and have thought about starting my own for some time.  So here it is!  Fashion is my passion, hobby and I believe the best form of self expression.  You are your own Stylist!...even if you are your only client;)
Hope you enjoy my love affair with fashion!

Top - H&M (similar here), Pants - Zara, Belt - Banana Republic, Wedges - Michael by Michael Kors (similar here)

I searched high and low for these wedges last summer.  I don't remember where I first spotted them, but I remember my 'I have to have these!' obsession with them.  At the time, I was still planning my wedding and had gone into Filene's Basement looking for a suit for the ring bearer which happened to be by the shoe department!!!  So I decided to browse their selection and when I spotted the 'I have to have these!' wedges in my size, I nearly died and went to heaven :)  So here they are in stride almost a year later and they're still one of my favorites.
